Leader in
High-Technology Education Giving Back to
Community
Andover,
MA -- For more than a decade, DCI has brought
high-technology education to business and
information technology professionals. This year,
it is also working to bring high technology into
America's schools.
DCI
is an active sponsor of three community programs
this fall:
NetDay96, a
grassroots, volunteer effort to wire the
nation's schools to allow them access to
the Internet and the educational benefits
of modern technology.
MassNetworks,
the Commonwealth's NetDay96 concern,
concentrating on creating more community
involvement in the education system.
Kids Compute-2001,
Mayor Thomas Menino's initiative to
provide the Boston public schools with
hardware, software and telecommunications
access.
The
company's partnership with these programs will
culminate on Oct. 12, when DCI, in conjunction
with NetDay96 and MassNetworks, provides a free
Teacher's Training Forum at the Hynes Convention
Center in Boston. This forum will show teachers
how they can use the Internet and the World Wide
Web in their classrooms to enhance student
learning.
The forum will be held just prior to DCI's Internet Expo, the world's largest
Internet, Web and E-mail conference and
exposition, scheduled for Oct. 15-17 at the
Hynes. The Internet Expo boasts 12 core
conference tracks on the latest Internet-related
issues and technologies, plus an exhibit hall
featuring hundreds of software and hardware
vendors. The event is expected to draw more than
50,000 attendees.
DCI, based in Andover, Mass., is a world leader
in providing high-technology seminars,
conferences and trade shows. The largest American
company of its kind, DCI boasts revenues of more
than $40 million and employs about 150 people at
its Andover headquarters. It holds more than 100
events around the country each year, and is the
Hynes Convention Center's No. 1 customer.
