The Universal
Server Championship Debate:
Informix vs. Oracle
BACKGROUND:
Informix
has its sights set on being the database server
champ, a title currently held by Oracle. Informix
believes its knockout punch is
"datablades" and extended data types in
its engine. Oracle counterpunches with assertions
that Informix users will knock themselves out
with faulty user-written code while guaranteeing
that its solution, "data cartridges,"
are "non-cutting." Each company is
convinced that its database server should be
recognized as the industry standard.
