DCI Develops New Data Warehousing Program for N.Y.;
CEOs of Informix, Silicon Graphics, MicroStrategy Will Keynote

Bill Inmon, 'Father of Data Warehousing,' Named Co-Chair of Industry's Premier Event

Andover, MA -- DCI’s Data Warehouse World at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, July 29-31, 1997, will showcase an all-new program with seven highly focused conferences. The New York event will feature keynote presentations by the chief executive officers of three leading data warehousing companies. Heading the 14-person keynote roster will be Phil White, CEO, Informix Software; Mike Graves, CEO, Silicon Graphics; and Michael Saylor, CEO, MicroStrategy. In addition, Bill Inmon, known in the industry as "the father of data warehousing," will make his keynote debut as the co-chair of the industry’s premier event.

The DCI conference is co-chaired by two of the world’s leading data warehousing authorities: Aaron Zornes, Executive Vice President, META Group, will focus on the strategic aspects of the program, and Bill Inmon, Founder, Pine Cone Systems, will manage the technical aspects of the conference. The combination of these two luminaries is certain to strengthen even more the conference and exposition format for attendees, exhibitors, and press.

"It’s becoming increasingly evident that data warehousing is the technical weapon being used by organizations looking for a competitive advantage," Mr. Zornes said. "To remain competitive, businesses will need to identify, capture, retain, and service their most profitable customers -- data warehousing helps accomplish this objective," he added.

The DCI event, co-sponsored by META group, will feature over 100 educational sessions in a seven-conference format including: Data Warehouse Technologies; Advanced and Emerging Technologies; High-Impact Data Warehouse Applications; Understanding How to Build a Better Data Warehouse; Strategic Marketing Summit; Data Mining and OLAP Forum; and Data Quality Forum. To address the growing education needs for vertical markets, conference sessions will be available for professionals in the following industries and fields: risk/financial, retailing, health care, customer service, and database marketing.

The conference will also emphasis real-world, "best practice" user stories -- 24 in all -- with presentations from successful data warehousing end-users including: Federal Reserve Board, Capitol One, Pacific Bell, Pitney Bowes, NASDAQ, Chase Global Bank, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Guinness Import Company, Fidelity Investments, Bell Atlantic, and 14 others.

DCI’s Data Warehouse World will run concurrently with DCI’s Sales Force Automation Conference and Exposition, the world’s premier sales and marketing event. An executive presentation by Tom Peters, "In Search of Excellence," will be open to all data warehousing and sales force automation conference attendees.

To register as press, please contact Dave Costello at DCI, (508) 470-3870 or by e-mail at dcostello@dciexpo.com. The event is just weeks away -- early registration is recommended.
